Using the search box at the right of this page, especcially if you have the full part number of the module you need information on, is a great way to locate that information.

The screenshot below combines the Product information for the CP 1243-1, and a paragraph from the CP 1243-1 manual. Both describe the CP 1243-1 as a Telecontrol processor, used in substation communications, with protocols such as DNP3 and IEC 60870-5/101/104. It can also send email, and can be used for Open User communication, and to connect to an HMI.

Nowhere is Modbus mentionned as a supported protocol, unfortunately. Working with a S7-1200 CPU, all Modbus TCP functions will operate ony on the integrated Profinet port of he PLC.

I have a application with a s7-1200 / cp1243-1  wich communicates with an Schneider Controller as a Modbus-TCP client.

Schneider controller is the master (modbus client) and the s7-1200 is the slave (modbus server).

Schneider Controller communicates with ten S7-1200 on CP1243-1 port.

The CP-1243 1 works perfectly with modbus TCP although Siemens don't validate this option in the 1243 documentation.

This application works fine for 6 months without any loss of communication.

Can you tell us if you used the standard MB_Server block to program the CP 1243-1 as a Modbus TCP server, and if there were any special parameters you needed to use?

I use the MB_SERVER function with standard parameters.

The only parameter that changes compared to the cpu port is the Hardware Identifier.

for the CPU, port  HW id is 64. for the CP-1243 (for me) it's 251.

That's all.

 I will be using this card for network seperation since I can't change the IP adress of the s7 1200 cpu. Thanks to you I am now sure that I can share information via modbus TCP over using this CP card. 

 I was nervous at first, since ''modbus tcp'' was not mentioned in any of the documents (either the manual and datasheet).
