This function should work, i used it several times on comfort panels to display motor state.

As a test place a I/O field next to your object with the same tag to check if its value is correctly transfered to HMI.

check background/foreground color settings of object, as a test make them both change at each value.

Also make sure there is only 1 bit set at a time. I suggest to use the "Range" option instead of "multiple bits" option, this makes debugging easier (imo.)
