In order to revamping an old line, I would like to use S7-1500.

I have some Protool panels , connected via Profibus DP.

Is there a way to configure the controller interface of the panel, to reach the CPU 1516?

A coupling of panels from Protool to an S71500 CPU configured in TIA Portal is an unusual combination for which, as seen above, no general recommendation or function guarantee can be given. The only thing that could work would be to use the old S7300/400 communication channel and allow communication in the S71500 with Put/Get and work with absolute DBs. But even for this combination, we cannot guarantee the functionality of these old panels. The following FAQ describes a similar constellation, but with WinCC flexible. For Protool, we have no experience here, as the product has been discontinued for some time:

I do not agree. I am of the opinion (untested) that linking OP7s to the S7-1500 should be possible. As long as Profibus was used and not MPI. Best if you would test the idea by borrowing a demo S7-1500 hardware and confirm.

The security settings in the S7-1500 must allow PUT/GET. DBs used in the previous PLC for HMI exchange should also be in the S7-1500. These DBs should not be optimized. The M-bits / Timers / Counter is not a problem though. Bonus points if the OP7 program's tags can be restructured to where you want it.

As far as I know, the PUT/GET protocol does not see the difference in PLC types. So even if the OP7 thinks it is linking to an S7-300, it may be something else. BUT you need to test it.

I did some tests with my one old OP77B and S7-1200 with DP Master module, working ok but OP is configured with TIA WinCC and connection channel set to S7-1200. Then I did little trick to simulate other cfg with Master as S7-300 (315-2 DP channel) and configured that HMI as S7-300 connection and connect back this HMI to S7-1200 existed as previously with same MB100 address value. Result? Not working because in this case (S7-1200) with one cfg is Symbolic addressing expected and with cfg as S7-300 absolute access used. I don't know now but with S7-1500 as is also with absolute access able like S7-300 is also functionality expected but not with S7-1200. I don't have S7-1500 HW for test due price but I'll try do some another tests on S7-1200 to have maybe access and with absolute access system configured.

SOLVED! 

My old OP77B working with S7-1200 via PB DP link and as S7-300/400 driver. My problem was that I've set Slot 2 as S7-300/400 driver sets but it need to be set 1 in case of S7-1200 HW. Symbolic or Absolute access doesn't play any role here, working simply as default with S7-300/400 driver as absolute access. I expect this as also change required inside ProTool prj probably if also S7-1500 have same slot number as S7-1200 HW. If this can't be set (I remember that it is possible) then it will not work with ProTool prj and S7-1x00 HWs. With Hazard_7's link is all ok but I'm missing there this important option need to set in S7300/400 driver because this driver simply set Slot 2 as S7-300/400 actual and to my previous test and post, therefore isn't accessible.

if I could also confirm my mentioned solution now with very old OP7 DP, ProTool prj inside and S7-300/400 driver selected, working perfectly with S7-1200 via PB DP. Like a charm

I didn't follow this thread for a long time, because (money cost) the rewamping was only small rewamping. 

In practise we still with S7-400 HW and we replace one OP7 ( we also replace very old Moby system ) than our customer had finish the money....

ok, no problem. My experience is that in case some HW reconstruction is expected (update) then quite longer tests of HWs are required, it takes simply some time and experienced people are required here also. This kind of update is really very important thing where effectivity to future is expected. It's hard to say if replace of Panel type is that one correct update or higher PLC CPU. Higher CPU will not do right effect here in my opinion because base comm data channel sets rules to this so it will be not speed effect here probably, only amount of memory for data but then also Panel prj need to be updated in case. Simply, with update of HWs it takes longer time to think about possibilities and effectivity for future.
