Hi Sinumerik 828D - This is classed as the "mid-range" controller, typically suited to Job shops / tool room environments but has grown in popularity so can also appear in larger scale manufacturing environments. This controller has some functional restrictions (no string type in PLC which is S7-200 based, number of Axis, restrictions around tool management etc). Sinumerik 840D - By this I am assuming you mean 840D Solution Line? This is the "Flag Ship" / Higher level machine tool motion controller. Embedded PLC is S7-300 based. Due to large customisation options this controller is often found in a large amount of diverse applications. This controller will soon enter spare parts only in October 2024 (no longer available for new installations) and be replaced by Sinumerik One. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/gb/en/view/109824419 Sinumerik ONE - building on the success of the Sinumerik 840Dsl the a ONE now features an S7-1500F, as such the PLC performance is greatly improved along with the safety integrated concept being redesigned around "Safety PLUS" (no more Safe.spf as the full failsafe functionality of the embedded PLC CPU can be used alongside the safe functions for the drive controller). The One also sees performance increases in NC and HMI controller. There are also a large amount of digitalisation commissioning tools (Create / Run MyVirtualMacnine etc) for this controller. Hope this helps Luke |

Thank you for explanations. Yes, It is 840D Solution Line. I am just asking for confirmation. Do you mean that 840D is not going to be published after October 2024? If yes, that means choosing Sinumerik One would be more sensible right now.
