vidarv Posts: 66 Rating: (1)	I'm doing a WinCC HMI Server and client set-up, 1 server and 3 clients. I have integrated all in PC stations in a Simatic S7 project located on one of the clients (engeenering station), and do download of Server and Clients by ethernet. When opening the Server application at the engineering station I am asked to start the server localy since the configured server is not available. If answering yes I can now dochanges to my server application andthen downloadfrom S7 manager when done, this works fine. But when trying to include C-scriptsit’s not possible, I get an pop-up with “Server is not available”. Can anybody help me find a solution or tell me what is happening? Vidar

(Saved locally on the server) Did the user administration and everything according to the description in : https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=22132850&caller=view As long as the server application is running I am now able to do engineering of the server from my engineering station. Is this the way it works? But my intention was to have a complete project on the engineering station, this would mean that I need the project to be saved at the engineering station, do changes here and the download to the Server. Is this at all possible? Or am I doing somethin wrong? I’m including both WinnCC and PLC program in a Step 7 project to have access to symbols and tags in the PLC, is there any other way of accessing tags and symbols in WinCC? Import functions? Or is the only option to manually define tags including addresses?

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi Vidarv, I think this FAQ is ok, but not enough. You´ve now ensured, thata basic network is available. But your Windows-users still need the correct userright for e.g. accessing data/files on each of your computers. => e.g. open microsoft explorer >e.g. "Harddisk C"> properties > shares => are your Client users allowed to access the harddisk of your server? Did you install/activate any firewall? Normally you do the engineering on your engineering station. From there you are downloading your project to Server and Client. There are different ways for creating tags in WinCC more or less automaticly: - Use AS-OS-Engineering: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22062395 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/14054155 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/775166 For creating tags in WinCC tag management you can use the Variable Import/Export Tool (WinCC online help > smart tools) or the "configuration tool" http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/13681075 Enjoy the weekend :-) Nemo

So I should share the complete harddrive on the server ? Not only the folder I download my application to, which is what I'm doing now. My windows firewall is disabled, no othe firewall installed. No, I tried to choose those examples , which can you use with STEP7/WinCC as well. PCS7 is based on STEP7 and WinCC [:D] I think you need to install the AS-OS-transfer (AS-OS-Engineering) seperately from your WinCC -CD...and of course you should install STEP7 first and THEN WinCC on your PC!! vidarv Posts: 66 Rating: (1)	Hello again! I can now do C-scripts at the engineering station and the download to the server. So I guess I'm doing better? At least I think I am! What I have done: 1. I did the S7 manager set up as described in : http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/17581871 2. Skipped the set-up in the Station Configuration editor and SimaticNet, I am just using the Ethernet in my workgroup. Do I need to do any set-up of SimaticNet for the Engineering station-server-client communication? 3. I included the Engineering station as a client in the Computer list in my WinCC project, this I think was what really did the C-scripting possible ! (?) When I now open the WinCC application for the server from S7 at the engineering station I get the "Cannot find server, start project locally?" message, I choose “Yes” and do my changes, for example a C-script. When finished I download from S7 manager, everything is OK. Is this normal/ the way it should be? Or is something still not working? Please give me your view. Best regards Vidar

For the WinCC Client/Server communicationyour configuration seems to be sufficient. Including the Engineering Station in your STEP7projectis/was the key. nemo

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi Vidarv, well, I am just a PCS7-user [:)] And in a PCS7 project you create all PC stations in your STEP7 project (ES, OS-Server, OS Clients). The Engineering is done just on ES and then downloaded to OS-Server/Clients. So the project is located on the harddisk of my ES. => this way I don´t get any messages. On OS-Server/Clients not any engineering is done. Nemo.
