?> How to pass on Motion Control datablock info as Motion Control FBs do?

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1195)	Hi-ya all, I wish to construct a custom FB that uses the Motion Control FBs and information provided by the Motion Axis DB. The catch is that I want to make my FB general purpose. Calling the Motion Control FBs with the multi instance datablock call is not the problem. The problem is that the relevant DB (or DB number) that contains the Motion Axis DB should be part of the parameters. In other words.. no "xxxxx" global variables - - all should be #xxxx local variables As example the current format is.. (AXIS_X is configured as a Motion Axis DB.. DB110) "AXIS_X".StatusBits.Enable inside the custom FB it should be something like.. #axis.StatusBits.Enable or even.. DB[#number].StatusBits.Enable Is it possible? --- I have tried creating a parameter of data type "TO_AXIS_1" as "MC_POWER" uses. This method does not seem to work. -- Thanks & greetings.

Notes on object creation order : 1. PTO created 2. Axis created 3. FB created 4. Motion command dragged into FB 5. Multi-instance selected for motion command DB 6. In interface for FB, type in TO_AXIS_1 for InOut tag. Let it name it, then rename to myAxis 7. Drag tag from interface to MC_Power Axis input 8. In Main, drag FB from project view into network, accept default DB name There may be better ways, but this was my first attempt. Attachment MultiInstance_Motion_FB_Interface.zip (921 Downloads)

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1195)	huggy_d1, Thank you very much. I understand now where I went wrong. The decleration for the "my_axis" should be as IN_OUT.. ouch.. not IN. Good tip for naming the DBs. As alternatives the following is offered, You can write in the name you want in the window where you select multi instance. The problem is that the # is missing in front of the datablock call. Fill in the # and you are good to go. If you copy and paste the motion FB from somewhere else.. Type in the name you wish the multi instance block should be. When pressing enter the call options box pops up.. select multi instance.. and you are good to go. Great. Now the fun begins.
