resister for analog signal

peters Posts: 122 Rating: (4)	dear experts: now i am a little bit confused about the resister for analog signal.some people told me that the 1.8k ohm resister only in the circuit of spare analog signal(see document 1 )and 500 ohm resister is for normal use in the analog circiut,but i found that the 1.8k ohm resister also used in the normal analog circuit (see document 2),please tell me why.thanks. Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi Peters, Normally there is placed a resistor on an not used channel with a resistance between 1,5 and 3,3 kOhm. I have never seen a resistor of 500 Ohm in a used channel, maybe that it is a protection for the analog input. When the current becomes 20mA, then its voltagefall is 500 Ohm * 20 mA = 10V ...., or is the current measured as 0..10V or something like that. How are the measuring range positioned and what is in the Hardware projecting?
