Hello Beginner; The foolowing FAQ will show you different ways you can interface between a TI505 and a S7 CPU: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/5854042 The different selections are material-dependant, that is your choice is limited by the hardware you have in the various CPUs. The availability of communications modules will be especially critical on the TI505 side, as Siemens does not produce them any more -- look at the CTI site for alternatives, if required (http://www.controltechnology.com/). The easiest way to send 244 bytes In and OUT between the CPUs would be Profibus-DP (generally available on both CPUs); you can eitherset the S7 as a slave on the bus and use COM Profibus to coonfigure the exchanges on the TI505 side; or you can use a DP/DP coupler, which acts as a slave to both CPUs (acting as master). For any more details at this stage, start by skimming the available manuals on the suggested FAQ, and come back here for more help. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

There's a good application note available on the CTI website: Communication to Simatic S7 using Open Modbus http://www.controltechnology.com/support/application_notes/ They are using Open Modbus TCP protocol over EThernet to commuicate to TI505 or CTI PLC's. |
