VBS - User functions visibility

adp Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have a simply issue, but I've spent some time trying to understand where is the problem but without success. First I've create some function in one file .bmo. All was working correctly. Second I've decide to create some new function for general use (i.e. CheckPasswordLevel or GetServerName ...) and to put them into a second .bmo file. Some of these functions can be read from the original .bmo file, but other no. The diagnostic tell me that the VariableName doesn't esist (where the VariableName is the name of my function). Where is my fault? Thanks[:o]

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi, Please make sure the scrits are saved error free. If you save a script with name: MyScript.bmo then make sure it is saved with two capitals as well. If something went wrong then it's saved with all none-capitals. with regards, ikkezelf

adp Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Script are saved without errors and with capital letters in the right place, but unfortunatly some functions cannot be access from other .bmo files. Other possibilities??? [:cry:]

I solve the problem by copy the function GetTag and SetTag from TagManager.bmo to INIFiles.bmo as new Private Function and Sub. In any case I include 2 bmo files one is used to read INI files from the project folder to declare constant to a data set. The function that is not working is the SetTagFromINI that call sub SetTag. Calling SetTag from SetTagFromINI return me a message "SetTag variable not defined" if I not declare SetTag as Private Sub into INIFiles.bmo!!! Bye Attachment ScriptLib.zip (666 Downloads)

I then called GetInfoFromINI from a button and all worked fine. Please note that VBS scripts can be a little awkward to manage. I believe that you have to ensure that both modules are successfully loaded into memory for you to call a function from module_A from a function in module_B. By successfully loaded into memory I mean that in the script debugger you can see one Running Document that contains BOTH module_A and module_B functions. To ensure this I would create a dummy procedure in all my modules. Then if I need a function from a module_B, I create a second dummy procedure in module_A that calls the dummy function in module_ B ! This ensures that both functions are part of the same thread and can see each other. Please let me know if you a) do not understand my confusing explanation [:P] or b) disagree with my logic.
