WinCC Alarm Control

Humph99 Regular Member Joined: 10/31/2005 Last visit: 8/7/2007 Posts: 21 Rating: (0)	I am logging alarms in the WinCC database, but only using HMI panels to acknowledge the alarms. I am not using the WinCC system to acknowledge the alarms. I am using the WinCC Alarm Control to display the alarm status in the short term and long term archives. What is the meaning of "Ack-System" in the status column of the Alarm Control? Am I right in assuming that "+" means Active Alarm, "*" means Active Acknowledged Alarm and "-" means Alarm Deactivated? There does not seem to be a description of the alarm status symbols.

There is no explanation in the manual as these are default settings and can be changed in the Message Class properties in the Alarm Logging Editor. I usually set it to ALM, ACK, RTN personally. The "Ack-System" stateis when WinCC has had to acknowledge the alarm. Explanation: If an alarm has been configured to have an acknowledge state then WinCC needs to see an acknowledgement before it can allow the alarm to occur again. So if an alarmcomes in, goes out and then comes in again without the operator acking it, WinCC will perform the ack. It records it as ack-system so it is clear that the ack was done automatically and not by an operator. Hope this makes sense. Salma

Open the alarm logging, open the properties of a message class, there you will find; Came In (+), Went out (-), Acknowledged () and Came In and Went Out(+/-). There is no definitive description, cause you can change these values to your own need.
