 Why Logo to NodeRed via MQTT ? Is there a more direct connection via the S7 interface ?

 S7 protocol is extremely "chatty" compared to ModBus or MQTT. Sometimes this may be a problem.

Yes. And also setup a new control system based on a legacy protocol is not the way to go.

Legacy meaning manufacture closed-in.

Then you must be avoiding Ethernet and rather connect with WiFi7 or even directly with 6G. Then surely the LOGO! is wrong for your project - it even uses legacy FBD coding. </s>

Perhaps Ardiuno Opta is better for you. (<s> Oops it has legacy RS485 connection on it! </s>)

Sarcasm aside, I am academically curious to know what your considerations are. What you define as 'legacy' would be most welcome too. Now if you said that some protocols offered more functionality over a broader scope of devices built for IOT environment.. that would have been different.

I was hoping to start an argument. It was with less malicious intent as it may seem. I hope to understand your design motivations and choices.
