Multi Master with an EXM448 and a CPU 416-3DP

Kramps Posts: 66 Rating: (2)	Hi, I am trying to establish a multi master communication between an EXM448-1 and a Profibus port of a CPU-416 3DP. I have made a multi master communication with two EXM448-1 and it works perfectly fine. I just have to declare for instance the other EXM448 as a default master which can be found in the COM PROFIBUS Library. For a CPU 416 3DP I didn't found in the DP Library a default master. The only thing we can actually do is to add an "Other Station" in Netpro with a Profibus interface. But apparently we can't declare it as a master on the bus. How will you proceed in order to declare the EXM448 as a master on the network on the CPU416-3DP side ? Thanks for answering, Kramps.

miami Platinum Member Joined: 8/31/2005 Last visit: 11/13/2024 Posts: 2198 Rating: (328)	A direct Master-Master Communication is NOT possible. But you can use a DP/DP coupler. Or you must defineone master and add the other station as slave. If the S7 is master you have to use HW Config, if the EXM448 is master you will have to use ComProfibus to configurate the PB. To be able to add theslave, you will need a GSD file. Due the EXM448 uses the same HW as a SS52 you can try to define a S7 as Master and add a PROFIBUS/SIMADYN/SS52 as slave. In the FM458 program you define at the central communication bock for PB ( I think it's @PRO) it shall work as slave only (connector SA or SLA) . Then you do not need to load a configuration into the EXM448

Those two masters won't communicate between each other but will access to different slaves using the token method. I have already tried to establish a such communication with two EXM448 as master and it works perfectly fine. When i am trying to establish this communication with a EXM448 and a CPU 416-3DP as master and 4 slave on the network the communication doesn't work well as I can't declare the EXM448 on Netpro. I tryed to declare it as a "Other Station" Item but i am not sure that the CPU 416 see it as a master but more as a slave. In COM PROFIBUS for instance it is possible to choose a "default master" to have a good token pass. This "default master" does not exist in HW Configurator. What should I use instead of "default master" in HW Configurator ?
