Hi, The tracking of materials and usage is limited. PCS7 offers several options, but in my opinion there is not a out of the box solution. Add-on: Advanced Process Functions APF is developed for small applications, multiproject specific (not accross several multiprojects). It features several modules for track and trace of material movements. For instance, material lots can be created with specific attributes and can be updated, storage management for silo's with creating business rules for selecting silo's with booking functionality, archive management for track and trace of actions such as transfers (from silo x to silo y with z amount). Order management for creating orders with/without batch integration and parameter management for creating parameter sets. See the following link for more information: APF APF is currently still supported with PCS7 V9.1, but is not updated anymore. In my personal opinion, APF was a good attempt, but it lacks some features and is not very user friendly Simatic Batch Batch is used for non continuous processes where you can create recipes which are handled according to ISA88 logic. The user can create a material list with material ID's used in the recipes. For example: You can have input and output materials and the product produced by the recipe. Batch offers some functionality for tracing the materials in reporting. Batch can work across multiprojects. In combination with the Industry Library (as of V9.0 SP1), Siemens added blocks from the original braumat library such as the tank block (See attachment). The tank block offers a process state function, material ID with batch tracing (history of last 10 batches) and some other features. There is no functionality for track and trace of materials to different silo's/tanks. Route control Route control is used for creating routes which works in a multiproject and offers a material matrix. Materials can be added and you can set which materials are allowed together. For instance potable water is allowed with caustic, caustic is not allowed with product. RC offers a block to save the material when a route is active. Together with batch, you can create functionality for track and trace of materials but again there is no out of the box solution. Again the Industry Library can supplement with additional blocks such as Qing and Xfer block. The Qing can set different source locations to one destination or one source to different destinations. Together with Xfer (works with RC), you can activate route transfers (see attachment for Qing block). |
