Newbie question – Valve as boolean button

All the valves I have found seem to be static and not capable of either triggering events or change color. Is there an easy way to do this?

Is it an IO field or any thing else? Have you tried with Invisible button? In case if you are discussing about IO Field, then you can say a color in High and Low limit of the value assigned. (provided Tag is configured with High and Low limit) Before every thing, what device are you using and what software for that?

The HMI device will be a SIMATIC Comfort Panel. I am not sure what you mean by value as I haven't mentioned "value". I want to have a symbol of a valve and I want it to be green when the valve is open and red when it is closed. I want to be able to press the valve as if it were a button and that would signal to my program when the valve should be opened or closed. I know how to do this if I used a button, but I want it to look like a valve.

I know how to do this if I used a button, but I want it to look like a valve. Hello TIM77, I have mistaken valve as value. Let's leave that apart, ignore my prev post. Hope you have two images configured under a Graphics List and you are displaying it using a Graphics IO Field (Output mode). Is this right? In this case create a new button and choose the option Invisible mode in the button. Then size the button with same dimensions of the Graphics IO field and place the button exactly above it. Now you can configure events for this invisible button and assign any event as you wish. It will look like a Graphic in the Runtime, but still you can touch it to do the ON / OFF functionality. The method above also works fine. 1. Use symbol library and select the symbol you want under properties/general (Se attached image). These symbols have the same events as a button 2. Select properties/appearance/style and change fill style to shaded (or solid) 3. Select properties/animations and add "Dynamic color and flashing". Select the associated tag and a foreground color for value 0 and another for value 1 4 On the properties/event tab select "Click" and add function "InvertBit" and select the same tag as above Attachment valve.jpg (726 Downloads)
