it depends also on the Panel type you are using...

In general if you do only logging and recipe the suggested USB memory pendrive and SD Cards will have enougth space for the data. Often also the calculated sizes for the logfiles are provided by TIA Portal. So an external USB HD will not be needed in almost any situation.
