Hello, probably a dumb question, but that has never stopped me before.

I am installing some Siemens AS-I safe modules and the monitor. I am most certain I will need the Asimon software. I look on the net, and there appears to be some available for download. Do I need the Siemens brand Asimon or will the others work? What is the most current part number for the Siemens Asimon software?

I also note that a cable is needed. The monitor has what appears to be a Ethernet socket. Have things advanced to the point a standard Ethernet cable will work between the PC and the Monitor, or am I relegated to purchasing the special serial cable?

This is the cable you need to connect the monitor to your programming PC, as per this quote

To configure the AS-Interface safety monitor with ASIMON, you must connect your PC and the AS-Interface safety monitor using the serial Interface cable (available as accessory).
