Hello SIOS forum community. ProTool was last renovated in 2004 along with the release for Windows XP. An installation under Windows 10 is excluded. Operation in a VM has not been system-tested, but experience has shown that it works, e.g. to view Protool projects or to prepare for a migration to WinCC flexible (possibly copying from STEP7 project). In general, however, it might be problematic to carry out the mostly serial transfers to the target devices from the VM. For the filling of replacement devices with ProTool, it is therefore necessary to keep the corresponding old PCs. It is therefore urgently recommended to replace HMI devices of the corresponding generations. ProTool projects can be migrated in WinCC flexible up to version 2008 SP2 and from there via WinCC flexible 2008 SP3/SP5 up to TIA Portal (up to V14) proportionally*. (*In the event of a device change to Windows-based HMI in the meantime, various manual adjustments are necessary due to changed functionalities). The following documents describe the necessary steps: SIMATIC HMI WinCC flexible 2008 Migration https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/18796902 Migration of a WinCC flexible project integrated in STEP 7 V5.x to WinCC (TIA Portal) and upgrading the HMI version after a change of the WinCC (TIA Portal) version to a newer version. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/77430539 Best regards, SIMATIC International Technical Support Hub |
