Connection problem between PC and PLC

chriswam Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello everyone I'm having some problems getting my computer and plc to communicate with each other. The error message I'm getting is "Port could not be opened or is being used by another application". I'm not sure if the settings in PG/PC Interface is right, it is currently set to "PC Adapter.PPI.1" Address is 0. Is this the right setting when I'am using the USB/PPI Multi-Master cable? I think I read somewhere that I have to use "PC/PPI cable" interface, but I don't have that option on my list. It does not appear on any of the lists when i click "Add/Remove" interfaces either. Another problem I have is that I can't change the PG/PC Interface, when I try to set it to something other than "PC Adapter.PPI.1" it won't change. Lets say I try to set it to "Serial cable.PPI.1" or any of the other interfaces on the scroll down list and click OK, it is still set to "PC Adapter.PPI.1" in the communication tab. The only thing I can change is the properties of "PC Adapter.PPI.1". Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? This is my settup. Laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate V4.0 STEP 7 MicroWin SP9 USB/PPI Multi-Master cable (6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0) S7-200 CPU 222 (6ES7 212-1BB23-0XB0) Here are some screenshots Attachment F:\PLC pictures.jpg (2452 Downloads)

desmul24 Posts: 378 Rating: (73)	Hello chriswam, I guess the problem could be the driver for USB adapter, Try this steps: 1. Unplug your USB adapter. 2. Uninstall MicroWin. 3. Restart your PC. 4. Plug your USB adapter. 5. Install USB adapter driver (from the CD comes with USB adapter) then unplug and plug the USB adapter now your pc should detect automatically and check on device manager. 6. Install MicroWin. 7. Go to control pannel (from your Windows 7 Ultimate) and open Set PC/PG Interface then you can set PC Adapter or Serial cable 9. Open Microwin and check on the communication tab and see if your problem solved. NB: When you install all the softwares, right click and Run as Administrator. Hope helps!

chriswam Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	My cable did not come with any driver CD, I just received the cable and nothing else. Is there somewhere I can download the drivers? My computer did detect the cable when I pluged it in and windows did search forand installed somedrivers (See Attachment). I'm not sure how windows could find the drivers since my computer is not connected to internet. When I go to Control panel -- Hardware and Sound -- Devices and printers, I find the USB/PPI Multi-master Cable listed under "Unspecified" Attachment F:\driver install.jpg (1799 Downloads)
