I have uploaded attached program from running S5 system. Now I want to convert into S7 Using S5 Converting tool.

However, when I try that, I find a whole lot of warnings and 8 errors. I can live with the warnings but errors are not allowing me to convert my program. Can anybody help me out in this? I have attached S5 program.

Thanks a lot for your support. I compared S5 and S7 programs line by line and it seems you have got a magic wand :)

However, I have following confusions. If somebody can help, It will be easier for me to understand the working of existing S5 program and I can trouble shoot S7 program during commissioning.

1.  In following S5 code, what does " L KS A@" means? It looks like it means that program will compare input word which can be either 'A' or 'P'. If input is 'A', program control will move to M001. Am I correct? What does "DKS" mean while declaring variables in S5?

2. When S5 code is converted to S7,  using "S5 Converting Files" tool, following is the result. Why the addresses are changed while conversion (the bold addresses) ? Do I need to change them again or I can continue using new addresses?

KS is the constant format (2 characters in ASCII format) in S5.

A/P is declared as an input data word with the 2 ASCII character format. Here is the explanation of your code:

S5 uses word addressing while S7 uses byte addressing, i.e. in S5 words are numbered in a series but in S7 bytes are numbered.

• So in S5 you had DW0, DW1, DW2, ... where each word had two bytes.
• And in S7 you have DW0, DW2, DW4, ... where each word has two bytes.

S5 to S7 Convertor tool takes care of it so no need to bother. You may find this thread useful. Pay attention to Navnag's comment.
