I have an ET200eco PN communications module with eight IO-Link ports that can be repurposed as digital I/O (6ES7148-6JJ00-0BB0).

I have setup six ports as an IO-Link 2I + PQI port and have setup the appropriate configuration for the IO-Link device in S7-PCT

The documentation associated with the module mentions that ports configured with IO-Link could use the otherwise unused Pin 2 on each of the ports as a DIQ, but there is scant detail on how to do this; and there is no explicit option to setup the DIQ pin WITH the IO-Link port options provided in TIA Portal.

The particular part of the manual that describes the use of a DIQ pin alongside an IO-Link port is in Section 4.1:

Is there something that I'm missing here, or is there a mistake in the manual and that we've made a bad assumption here.

Any help in clearing up any misunderstanding would be of great help.

The different operating modes of each IO-Link port are defined by configuring a corresponding submodule:

• as a digital input by configuring a digital input submodule

     – the address space is 1 byte input and the digital input value can be found in bit 0 (without PQI).

• as a digital output by configuring a digital output submodule

     – The address space is 1 byte output and the digital output value can be found in Bit 0 (without PQI).

• as IO-Link device by configuring an IO-Link submodule,

     – in STEP 7 (TIA Portal): By deactivating the port enable
