Hello Everyone, I know I'm a bit late but I just didn't want this post to get buried quickly during campaign time. I wanted to draw more attention to break up thewrong consensus regarding HMI/HMI communication. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The thread was originally outside WinCC conference and seems to be moved by the inform moderator button (probably should have been in Visualization General). So, if spartenwas asking whether if it is possible to communicate 2 WinCC standalone stations or not then please readMike J's excellent reply. Again yes it is possible. Now, what if spartenwas asking about 2 HMI panels (which I believe this is the case) [quote user="sparten"]Is it Possible to communicate between any two SIEMENSE HMI to HMI??? no other master devicelike PLC,SCada.... With all respect to the claims that a PLC must be there. Gentlemen, There's no need for PLC to accomplish this task and the answer isdefinitely surely absolutely YESif you have the right HMI panel. How? Please, look at the attachment from theHMI catalog ST80. This service was always there in WinCC flexible and it is still there in TIA WinCC advanced with the option sm@rt server. To know how to establish the SIMATIC HTTP connection please read chapter 3 in theWinCC Flexible communcation manual part 1or (Chapter 10.11.12) inTIA WinCC advanced manual. For what application and whether it's hypothetical or not, 1-A series of air compressors equipped with S7-312 CPU with local HMI for each compressor and a master HMI that talks to all HMIs. 2- A series of plastic molders with local HMIs and a front end HMI gathering production data from all of them. 3- Now another real application is a remote connection between 2 HMIs in different locations through the Internet. Please, check application 2-Communication between two operator panelsinWhat are the options for remote maintenance of a WinCC flexible Runtime system (Panel/PC) via the Internet (WAN)? I hope I (and previouslyMike J) succeeded to change the wrong consensus from not possible and useless to possible and there are applications for it. So again and in brief, you can communicate 2 Siemens HMIs whether you have 2 WinCC stand alone stations or 2 HMI panels (higher than 177 series). Best regards, H-H ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can consider this OFT. Back in 2006 touch screens "in my country" were not very popular in non-industrial applications as we see it nowadays. After an automation fair in 2006, we received a request to quote for a fancy HMI network in a restaurant application. No PLCs, just touch panels talking to each other, managing orders and providing recipes' data but sadly we didn't quote. I think it could have been done with the SIMATIC HMI HTTP protocol. New question published by martinrelayer is split to a separate thread with the subject wincc flexible 2008 runtime and S7-200 plc. Best regards |
