I need to correct my answer here: The MindConnect IOT2050 can not be used for other purposes as they are specifically developed and optimized to seamlessly integrate with Siemens Industrial IoT solutions, like Insights Hub.

Other applications are not intended and are technically impossible.

yes - you can erase the IOT2050 and install a fresh Example image or IndOS to the device.

Please make sure you adjust your boot order correctly! For this you can use an UART cable to connect to the IOT2050 and PuTTY to access it (you can not access the u-boot-shell with the DisplayPort output!)

Interrupt the boot process and use the following command to see the current boot order:

printenv boot_targets

Use the following command to adjust the boot order:

setenv boot_targets "mmc0 usb0 usb1 mmc1"

saveenv

For better understanding: mmc0 = SD card, mmc1 = eMMC

Then you can use install your IndOS via Service Stick or Example Image on a SD card and boot directly. You can find them on our Download Page. Instructions can be found in the pinned posts of the forum.

You can then access Azure Cloud for example with the preinstalled NodeRed and this nodes.
