Hello plc290; For such a question, I recommend an older document from Siemens (2009), which contains most of the technical information needed to design a complex Profinus topology: connectors, cable and tools: SIMATIC NET PROFIBUS Network Manual System Manual https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/35222591 The use of a festoon cable requires some attention: at 1,5 MB, the segment length is limited to 200 m, due to the construction with flexible stranded wire (standard Profibus cable uses single-core wire) . And remember that this is not the point-to-point distance (between two nodes), but the actual cable length used in your process that is the basis for measurement for this segment. Festoon cables are suspended over guided roller hooks in cranes or mobile target installations, so the actual cable measurement is much longer than the point-to-point distance you need to cover, .so you have to take the total length of the cable to measure the segment length. See the screenshot below.for basic details. If the segment in festoon cable exceeds the 200 m length allowed, you would have to decrease the overall network to 500 kB; festoon cable allows a length of 400 m at that speed. Hi All, we have the system shown in the attached pics, the system was working for years ago, then after some problems in the PROFIBUS cable we exchanged the whole standard PROFIBUS cable with a new Festoon cable for all the system. after this change we faced the problem of loosing communication between PLC, HMI and the 2 ET200M no.3 & no.4 interface modules. the message was " the module is not available & I posted this problem here once before". After make some diagnostics and reviewing we fixed the problem of communication between PLC, HMI & ET200 IM no.3 - PROFIBUS DP profile. - Baud rate = 1.5 Mb/s - Total Bus actual length = 240 meters Any Recommendations ?? Hello Mr.Daniel Thanks too much for your answer, tomorrow I'll try to reduce the Bau rate to 500 kb/s in the whole devices on the network. and try again. |
