In order to make things clear I will explain my setup what I can and cannot do and what I need to do.

In my setup I have two devices connected to my PLC over Profinet, a HMI screen and a third party camera, please see the attachment for more clear image of the setup. The camera is added as a distributed I/O device using GSD file. The PLC is connected to one router (1) that is bridged with router (2). They act as a wireless ethernet cable connection in a sense. When connected to router (1) with my PC over ethernet cable I can ping both devices with cmd. I can use the HMI screen and write values to the PLC over WiFi no problem.

What I cannot do is to get any feedback from the camera over WiFi, when I'm online with the PLC it displays an error in lower-level component, both PLC and distributed I/O module (camera). I can't also go online with or download/upload to the HMI screen over WiFi. When this devices are hardwired to the same ethernet switch those problems do not exist.

What is required of me is for these devices to communicate in this wireless setup. I do not need the ability to download/upload to them or even going online to them wirelessly as far as they communicate like the HMI does.

Does anyone have any idea what the issue might be here? I'm clueless at this point I feel like I have tried everything, even increased the update time in IO cycle, but it seems like the response time here isn't an issue.

Also when using PRONETA software Network Analysis it only displays PLC in the network using this setup, again there are comms between the HMI and PLC but the screen isn't visible.

90% of the normal Wi-Fi product don't support needed protocolls needed by Industrial automation. Profinet communication is not normal Ethernet. Link Layer Discovery Protocoll is the most important for Profinet. Profinet communication is not based on the IP, but on the Mac address.

What is the Profinet interfaces update time in the Camera? Usually when you have somethin connected via WiFi or Bluetooth, the update time needs to be minimum 32ms, but it might also need to be up to 256ms.

If you are trying to to accessible devices search or trying to download the HMI with PNIE and search all compatible devices then there is used a DCP Package broadcast, this will work in a local LAN with common switches.

But the most third party routers or Access Points do not support DCP forwarding.

So I think this will be not forwarded with your AP.

-> but you should be able to load the HMI, just use in the Extended Download dialog "Show Devices with the same addresses" or use this one(LINK)

you could also use in case of a Comfort Panel Ethernet on both sides instead of PN_IE.

If have also a Test environment connected with Wifi, this works also without problems
