Hello Loret, You can use Profibus cable, with Profibus connectors. See this thread: /tf/WW/en/Posts/90707 Have a look at Marcjan's answer Best regards, Wizard |

Hello loret; You will find a description of the MPI cable pinout here(along with a recurrent suggestion tio use Profibus cable and connectors): how to make MPI cable About a cause for your problem: you have to recognize that with the amount of information provided it is difficult to see what could have happened. A few things you have to know: - MPI cabling is limited in length because the MPI ports are non-isolated (contrary to Profibus ports), so you cannot use MPI over 50 m. If you have moved to a distance longer than that, you need a repeater. - Profibus connectors are designed to work with Profibus cables, specially for the shield clamping (which is a must for correctsignal propagation). If you use another type of RS-485 cable the outer diameter could be too small to clamp the shield properly and this will give you trouble. We only use non-Profibus cables with Profibus connectorsin lab settings and tests for very short distances, never for industrial applications. If you plan to use standard non Profibus RS-485 cable then you could solder male and female sub-D 9-pin connectors at each end (using the pinouts suggested earlier), taking care of the termination resistors at the same time. See the attached document. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
