Step 7-Micro/Win SP6 some solutions

When you try to install SP6 it says that you need to uninstall your previous version of Step 7-Micro/Win. If uninstallation wasn't succesfull you can look at this topic https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?query=uninstall+microwin&func=cslib.cssearch&content=skm%2Fmain.asp&lang=en&siteid=cseus&objaction=cssearch&searchinprim=&nodeid99= In my case, I still had problems, becouse SP6 installer said that I must uninstal older version, but I have allready uninstalled it. So I tried to reinstall that older version (4.0.5.08) sever times and then uninstall it, but SP6 installer generated the same error and nothing helped. So I found the solution. You must search through registry for entry 4.0.5.08 (I tested it only on this version) and delete all entries that relates to Microwin. Be carefull when deleting entries, becouse I found entries with these number, but they wasn't related to Microwin or Siemens. It's best to do registry backup before deleting anything. Maybe there is no such problems with older versions tan 4.0.5.08. I asked Siemens Support for help, but we didn't find a solution. I think it's becouse of previous version of MicroWin. So if someone has similar problems it could be useful to look at this thread :) Regards,

Step 2: Cold restart the computer Step 3: Install the STEP 7-Micro/WIN V4.0 Service Pack (SP6) by again double clicking the file STEP7-MicroWIN_V40_SP6.exe. " Ihave not yet test it. Sometime I heard about installation problems with different Operational System. My suggestion in this case is: 1 - Do like the open related FAQ 2 - If doesn't work, do like FAQ http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/10351238 good look

It will detect the old version.2 - Then deinstall the software.3 – Don’t restart the pc 4 – Starts the service pack 6 installation again.

The method in your last post generates the same error message saying that I allready have Micro/Win installed. So I created this thread for people like me :) If nothing helps, my method helps ;) By the way, what old version of Micro/Win you are trying to update ? Regards

In this condition I can't re-install the software, because the setup tell me before to removethe old software (the same message you had, I think), and I can't remove the software, because was non correct installed. I read your message, and I try your solution, and work! Before I remove all the keys, into windows register, like 4.0.6.65 (in my case this is the version number), relating to MicroWIN, of course. After remove the MW folder (into my PC is "C:\Programmi\Siemens\STEP 7-MicroWIN V4.0"). After this I was able to reinstall MW. Thank, Mr Darius
