Sitting here enjoying my Saturday night and battling with the TM_MAIL function. 

So I have been reading a lot of forum posts, the "Process Data Acquisition and Monitoring with SIMATIC S7-1200 (Data Logging)"- tutorial, the "S7-1200 Programmable controller System Manual" and in the "Information System".

I know I need a mail provider who allows sending on Port 25. I have checked that it is open with the "telnet"- function in cmd.

I know how picky the function is with the FROM: and TO_S: and all that.

I have been through STATUS- values like 8010, 8013, 8014, which I have corrected one after the other right up to now when I get a STATUS- value '85C9' !?

It is not listed in the Information System, so it is a bit hard to understand what it is and how to correct it. Have anybody encountered this error before? Any help would be much appreciated.

So it is Sunday morning and still banging my head in the wall..

When playing around with the IP- address and trying different mail hosts, it looks like the function finds the host name (The host name ends up in the buffer1 and 2 fields as per attached picture), so this should mean that the PLC have connection to the Internet/mail server..?

When using the mail server I am suppose to use on this project, and with the right username/password and FROM- address, I get "past" just the host name being returned. Messages like:

Can someone make any sense of this? Is it a problem from the providers side?

Hi, been there, done that.It's a pain and very, very hairy. I have made a fb for it and just tried it again.

Didn't work because the version instruction innovation of tia was not correct. But now it works on tiav13sp1upd5 with tm_mail set to v1.4. This is with firmware 4.1.3 on a 1214. ymmv.

wireshark and own email server will be of help. Also put cpu in stop when adjusting mail-db or recompile/dl all. In the end, try a factory reset if you still have hair left.

TM_MAIL V1.4 is not  avaliable for me, so I am trying to use V1.3.

I have now opened a new mail account at my ISP, and trying again. 
I heard something about SMTP over port 25 from a ISP could be blocked if you are not connected to their net..?

Anyways, with the new smtp IP- address with corresponding user name and password and from- address, I no longer get the 85C9 at the status, but 8421.

It seems the mail server replies to your plc  that you use an invalid to: address. Eg. if you indeed used  x@'example.com' in my example the mail server tells you that is an invalid address. Try using a known working email address.

If you indeed get such a reply that means that port 25 is not blocked for you. Again try using your own email server first and wireshark to see what is really going on.

I got it to work.
The remedie was to be in the network of the ISP I am using the SMTP- server of, leave the "Username" and "Password"- fields blank and write the TO_S field as "'TO: <address@example.com>,'"

So now, do you know how to assign attachments?
I would really like to attach a .csv- datalog I have created with the datalog- functions; is this possible?

Do you think it could be a problem with the ISP blocking attachments?

I get an 8015 status when trying attachments, and I have tested many different things from "Structs" to simple "Int".

The text i get in the "Daten"- buffer in the TM_Mail Instance DB is:
