magdy Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear All could you help me 1- I have a step7 300 PLC and i want to connect 20 semines TP 177B units in MPI network to be controled by the one PLC is it possible 2-I have CP 5613 interface card can i make communication between the CP5613 and the TP 177B directly without using the PLC thank you all

About your question #1 I can say that 20 TP’s will surely not work with one PLC CPU. Even if you would use 2 CP 342-5 with Multiplexed HMI Connections it may work but is this useful, I doubt it. About your question # 2 I can say that the CP 5613, if you have a valid license for the CP, will also work with Protool or Win CC Flexibel. I hope I could answer your question. Best regards J_Bell

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	I don't know for sure for all S7-300 CPU but there is a maximum of 16 connections. From those 16 1 is preserved for a PG leaving 15 connections. But please check for the 317 and the upcomming 319. I don't know how much connections those PLC can handle

magdy Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	thanks Thijsfor your reply i will describe my system in prife iwill make system for production data collection so i will use Touch panels in diffrent places in the shop floor to collect the production data in my design i will use one or two PLCs S7 300 to control the touch panels by connecting them with MPI network and i will connect the PLC to the pc by using CP 5613 to draw the data from the PLC to the PC i allready try to connect two touch panels to one PLC S7 and thePLC control them corectly & i draw the data to the PC Now 1-I want to know the maximum cable length without repeater and with repeater 2-i saw in the set PG/PC that i can connectup to 126 devices in one MPI network is it right or not thank you

With actual modules it should be possible. But I'm not absolutely sure. Sabine

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Sabine, hello magdy, about the number of nodes I can confirm that the number of nodes in an MPI network can be up to 126. But I have to admit that the maximum segment length of a copper segment is up to 50 m, as soon as you have one native MPI node (MPI / DPnodes are not native MPI nodes)in it. I hope this will help. The recources in the plc won't handel time shared tming more than about 4 screens. We did try 6 TP177B on a 313c. (response time about 5 sec. by pressing a button) after changing a 313c by 315 almost no extra speed on changing by pressing. After studing with some Siemens Experts the problem isn't changed. only adding an extra plc did slove the speed problem. (with still some not nice thing behavers) If you can solve this item I'm wondering wat the key to speed is. Best Regards, Tommy Huijs.
