Dear Nor'Easter, WinCC flexible is successor of Protool software. With this software it is possible to programm HMI panels. When you have WinCC flexible Advanced, it is possible to make visualisation on PC. WinCC is SCADA package. Perhaps the following link will give you more answers: http://www.automation.siemens.com/hmi/html_00/products/software/index.htm Best regards, Wizard |

Hello Nor'Easter; A quick answer first: -WinCC (no extenstion) now at version 7.0, is a full-blown SCADA package, designed to monitor and control small or large projects, wiith ressources for data acquisition, trending, archiving large amounts of data. It runs only on PCs, as standalone stations or in server/client topologies, and has a varied library of add-ons (Webnavigator, redundancy, batch processing, connection to MES software) and application-specific extensions (PM-Aqua, Historian...) that allow the user to scale the software to the plant requirements. -WinCC Flexible (the 2000x specifier indicates the year a specific release was developped; they are not compatible, conversions are always required) is Siemens' new HMI software; it is designed primarily to configure Siemens operator panels, although there is a runtime license that will allow it to run on a PC. Next, a link with much more information on Siemens' operation and control software. Using the links at the left you will find a lot of details on the different packages offered. https://www.automation.siemens.com/hmi/html_76/products/software/index.htm Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier Edit: Wizard and I seem to be finding our sources in the same area... but he is less long-winded than I am, so he gets it published before I do. ;-) D.C. |

Dear Daniel, Keep up the good work. It's a great explanation, I could not do it better. Best regards, Wizard |
