Who "defines" Telegrams?

KevinNfoDrives Member Joined: 6/28/2022 Last visit: 4/18/2024 Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	Is there an offical standardized list of Telegrams and their number and what that numbers means? Does every company use their own defintions for each telegram? Is there a standard way to think about the numbers? Who should i ask? Where is the list? Why isnt there just a list that everyone can look at that has all the different types of telegrams with the description? Am i missing something? Feels like its incredibly hard to find information. Wouldnt it be better if its easier to find information? Why not just have a public list with all the telegrams? We use Telegram 1, profiDRIVE anybus. But my boss told me to look at implementing more telegrams. The person who implemented Telegram 1 left many years ago. Where do i even begin/start?

You need to log into profibus to access documents and you need a registered company to create an account. Changing the telegram configuration in an existing application can be challenging. This is because your drive is not acting on its own. There may be PLC code that uses the data received from the telegrams to generate commands to the drive. This requires your software to be able to handle the selected telegram, and especially if you are using existing software from a library, the software itself will limit the possible telegrams. So you would have to know your software as well as your application to know which telegrams can be used. And then you have to compare this list with the list of telegrams supported by your drive.
