Hello Experts,

I am trying to communicate S7-1200+CM1242-5 station with WinCC RT Adv V13 + CP5612 thru profibus.

While configuring 'Connections' in WinCC PC station, 'communication driver' showing error (Red colour).  .

In 'Network view', partner PLC interface showing 'None' and showing error 'There are no connection resources available'.

As per CM 1242-5 'Operating instructions manual' CM1242-5 can communicate with SIMATIC PC Stations, but can't create an error free 'Connection' in WinCC PC Station.

HMI Device : WinCC PC station (with CP5612)

Version of TIA Portal : WinCC RT Professional V13

PLC Device : S7-1200 1214C DC/DC/DC with CM1242-5 (Profibus slave)

Firmware Version of PLC : V4.1

Image Version of HMI : 13.0.1.0

Issue : Cannot make connection/communication b/w PLC and WinCC

to do a communication with a WinCC Professional Rutime or another HMI Device you need a Profibus Master Module like a CM1243-5!!!

the CM1242-5 ist only a Slave Device.

As per CM 1242-5 manual, it should able to communicate with SIMATIC PC stations (PC Station as master) .

Yes but only if the PC Station is a DP Master like a Soft PLC or an embedded controller.

A PC Station with a HMI Runtime is NO DP Master. You need a DP Master module at the S71200 controler.

?? OPC works only with Ethernet. Of course there are OPC Server that can get access to PLCs with DP.

Where is the problem, do not use a CM1242-5 to communicate, use a CM1243-5 or use ethernet for a direct communication. In WinCC v13 there are communication drivers for ethernet or Profibus build in. But of course WinCC RT Systems and Panels can only communicate with master systems.

Actually, CM 1242-5 modules already purchased with S7-1200 CPUs , now trying to make use of it for communication with WinCC RT. Hence seeking for possibilities for the same .

I don not think that this research for "recycling" the cm1242-5 leads to an access. Perhaps you can use this device in another project or sell it in Ebay or something.
