Wireless Network with WDS and 10 Access Points

Wireline Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	hello friends I am working in a network wireless on a refinery with the devices SCALANCE W788-1RR and W747-1RR. so I need information about how set up the configuration of this devices. The system needs of rapid roamign y fast times of responces, in addition I will use a netwith WDS but "The WDS menu command is available only in access point mode and when iPCF is notenabled." The situation is seen in the attached image According to the program SINEMA E I should use 10 Access Points, but have read that devices bear 8 associated Access Point a net WDS then would I have to configure 2 nets. 5APfor WDS1and 5 APfor net WDS2? And that does it happen on the priorities of the bridges to make redundance? thanks best regards Attachment question.JPG (466 Downloads)

But I can't imagine where you need what kind of communication. Maybe you can explain what you want. And why do you need Rapid Roaming? Are there PN IO devices in this project? What kind of antennas do you use? Why do you place 2 AP's in a very small area? What kind of frequency do you use? Have you checked you Signal Quality tab? I guess you might see a lot of interference here? Or did you create a 'backbone'based on 5 GHz and the connection to your clients is based on 2,4 GHz? Can you show us the pictured of a simulation for the first three taps? When you use SINEMA 2006 SP2 you can easily save your simulations. Furthermore you áre correct in not combining RR and WDS this because otherwise the devices roamed quickly enough but the MAC Tables of the device aren't udate fast enough and you might loose a lot of data. Why don't you connect the device Wireless?

The refinery has great quantity of metal in the structure for this reason exists 10 AP for have a good coverage see this link http://www.editec.cl/mchilena/Nov2002/Articulo/refineria.htm http://www.editec.cl/mchilena/jul2004/Articulo/codelco.htm so I need the characteristics of Rapid roamingand at same time make use of WDS because is necesary make use of one frecuency for request of the factory.

You will get a very troubled roaming because all the AP's are interfering with each other. And as you could see it's impossible to use Rapid Roaming combined with a WDS. It's also not recommended to do this because of the MAC Tables which then need to be update as fast as the RR goes. Would it be possible to show some of the simulation results? And maybe you can make a sketch and attach it as JPG, eventually a hand drawing which you scanned. Just to have a simple overview of the complete system. Maybe some of us can show you an other way to create a solution.

And will it be possible to install the receiving antennes at a higher place? Like above the metall shelves in between the tracks? Or are they as high as the roof is? Have you thought about using RCoax? The distances are great to cover with RCoax and this is also more save then using directional antennas, because the directed antennes might be so strong they will get outside the building with RCoax you won't have such an behavior. Please provide us as much info as possible. Eventually by PM if it's confidential.
