Is this posible by writting configuration data directly to the IO controllers?

We have 2 options at the moment. 1. Go with a PLC and pre-configure GSD files in the hardware config for all possible conbinations and handle active nodes. (This could get messy). 2. Go with a PC solution with Hilscher cards and change the IO controllers scan list in code based upon products in test. 1. This could potentially be a nightmare for the client to maintain. 2. This would require bespoke software as siemens hardware and software is prefered by the client. So question is can the IO controllers be manipulated where the nodes are unknown at runtime?

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/4/2024 Posts: 4351 Rating: (1452)	Hi, PROFIBUS has the possibility to active / deactive devices PROFINET has the feature "Docking Station" to permit to activate/deactivate devices too. But in both cases, the Controller program should include all possible configurations / devies.

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/4/2024 Posts: 4351 Rating: (1452)	HI, you are wellcome. :) TIP: these feature is because that PROFIBUS/PROFINET are suported by the CPU operational system, and it is configured by HW configuration. In MODUBS TCP, the slave "pooling" is controled just by the user program. So, there you can add/remove nodes by user program.
