Communications using profibus/industrial ethernet

Richard Jupp Advanced Member Joined: 12/1/2005 Last visit: 2/5/2024 Posts: 47 Rating: (0)	I have a system that has the following parts connected on profibus: 2 off MM420 1off S7 315-2DP 1off TP27010" 1 off TS11 Adaptor The configuration above allows me to dial in to the equipment and monitor and download the equipment listed. The customer has asked us to change the connection we normally use from a TS11 to a Ethernet connection so we can set up a Virtual Private Network and achieve the same functionality that we currentlyhave over the dial up connection. I have purchaseda CP343-1 Lean under the recommendations of our dealer. What I can't work out is how we route accross the two networks i.e. Ethernet to profibus to allow us to monitor and download to the equipment on the profibus network. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and if so is there a data sheet or example availiable that I can follow. Thanks for your help Richard Jupp

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Richard, well here is a Link to a FAQ that shows a bit of the doing, instead of the ISO Protocol you can also use the TCP Protocol, but be sure that the Port 102 is opened for the PG Functions: PG/PC interface to ISO-Industrial Ethernet using Routing with Starter and DriveES to access MICROMASTERS on Profibus from the network port on PG or PC The only problem I see is WinCC flexible see below: How do you use WinCC flexible 2005 to transfer a project to an operator panel via S7 routing? there the Routing capability is only over MPI. [:cry:] A solution for the TP is not possible this way... I am afraid. Best regards J_Bell

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Richard, to say it shortly. If you use a Routeracross Networks you have to provide the TCP Port 102 to enable STEP 7 to communicate to the PLC’s. This so called open Port is required for the S7 Protocol used. The ISO Transport Protocol does not work over the Internet or with Routers. Best regards J_Bell
