How about the possibility of "Windows for IOT" for IOT2000 ?

I have worked on Windows software developer, I'm familiar with Visual Studio.

I don't know how does reliability have linux and latest windows on embedded device such as IOT2000.

Visual studio supports intel garireo with alpha version SDK.

What is the advantage to use linux OS on IOT2000 against with Windows for IOT ?

Looks like the red-node has so useful and realize easy development with our cording.

i guess, the red-node code works on JRE ?? i don't know detail but I want to write native code with my familiar IDE environment.

If IOT2000 support only Linux with Eclipse, i guess to narrow down the range development.

The IOT2000 is mostly identical to the Galileo Gen2. So already the foundation is longer existing. Why? Because Windows is way more demanding than Linux, and that is one reason it is phasing out from the embedded market.

Another is that Windows cannot really compete any more with the vivid ecosystem of (mostly) free applications, tools and libraries that Linux provides for embedded usage.

Linux is de-facto embedded (and server) standard, and even MS people admit this: 2 years ago, I was sitting in a meeting in their offices, next to me an Window 10 IoT developer. He looked at my notebook with all the Linux stickers on it and started to complain: "Oh, it's so easy for you Linux folks! You get all the hardware specifications, and the silicon vendors even write all the platform support and drivers for you. We don't have this!" Yes, the world has changed.

But maybe you can name some features or apps that are missing from your POV. That includes what exactly is missing with the Eclipse integration compared to Visual Studio.
