How to address a part of a word passed to a function.

Bill Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I have a function with an "Input" parameter that is defined as a Word. I want to look at individual bits of that word without having to mask off other bits and perform comparisons. If it were in normal memory, that would be simple. MW100 is a word and M100.2 is a bit from that word. But how do I address a bit in a word passed to a function from within that function?

Bill Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Yes... I have a function (for example, FC100). The function has a word as an input value. From within that function, I can't figure out how to look at one single bit of that word. If in that same function I make a Temp variable, then it is part of the local memory area and I can access bits like this: L0.0. But an Input value and an Output value are not part of the local memory stack area. So I can't use "L" to refrence bits. Currently, I've created a Temp variable (starting address L0.0) and MOVE the value of the Input word to it. Then I can look at it any way I want. Is this the only way?

Under this conditions I would do the following: *FC x* IN.........TEST......WORD TEMP...ABC.......WORD *STL in the FC x* L TEST T ABC O L0.0 //Bit of the word TEST Easier it would be, if you use a FB (not a FC) with an Instant-DB: *FB1, DB1* IN........TEST......WORD *STL in the FB1* O DB1.DB0.0 //Bit of the word TEST
