Is it necessary to assign Master to my new device which will be DP Slave?

Jaraky Joined: 7/15/2024 Last visit: 7/31/2024 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello, Im creating program for new device (PLC 1214 DC/DC/DC with aditional modul CM1242-5) which will be communicating via PROFIBUS as Slave( It will provide measured data for Master). My question is, if i have to add the Master device into the Tia portal or not. The Master device is SAIA PCD2M5 and i only found his GSD files for Slave usage. So if the Master device isnt necessary for the program it would make it much easier for me. Im open to any Idea how solve this problem. Thank you in advance

But the slave has to be added and configured into the master project. Basically you can use this FAQ as a reference. The FAQ is obviously not an S7-1200 but the principle is the same with any PROFIBUS master <-> i-slave communication. How to you connect the communication module CM 1542-5 or the communications processor CP 1542-5 as I slave in STEP 7 V5.x to an S7-300/S7-400 CPU? regards sancruz
