Hello Naga; As Eastern points out, the is redundancy available for S7-300 CPUs; here is some information on the subject (I am afraid the earlier provided link will not give you the infoyou were hoping for): http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1137637 However , your requirement of "second CPU should take care of process bumplessly" is not possible with the Software Redundancy package (the only type of redundancy available for S7-300s); at best it must be considered a "warm-backup" system. Synchronisation is done over standard S7 networks, MPI, Profibus or Ind. Ethernet. So the transfer time of control to the stand-by CPU is not counted in number ofscan cycles, but in seconds... So if you have a critical application, you must look at the S7-400H systems, where synchronization is done over fiber-optic links, and the redundant software is loaded in the firmware of the CPUs, so reaction time to primary CPU failure is much, much faster, almost seamless.Here is some information on H-systems: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1186523 The H-systems are more expensive, of course, but if a redundant S7-300 was a possible controller for your process, then a S7-412-3H could probably do the job for you, at a much lower price than the larger H-systems, S7-414-4H and S7-417-4H).
