DerekK Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Does anyone know the PID algorithm used by FB41 (specifically in a 317-2 PN/DP)? I could not find it in any of the manuals. Also, does anyone know if the PID algorithm in FB41 is compatible with the algorithm used in OB251 in a S5? I am trying to convert a program from S5 to S7, and I would like to know whether this is just a case of remapping the datawords, or whether the PID loops will have to be retuned.

The mathematical data for the S5 and S7 PID controllers are hard to find; they rely mostly on diagrams to show how they are using gain-independant position PID controllers. Have a look at the implemntation of FB251in a S5-100U, you can compare the structure of the controller to that of a S7 CPU: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1086289 Also, follow the following FAQ to helps you adapt the parameters of a S5 PID controller to that of FB41 in a S7 CPU: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/17991108 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
