Hello Saggy, Have a look at the specification Signal module (SM) expansion in this URL. Comparison ofS7-1200 CPU models This clearly explains the limit of max. number of signal modules supported by each S7-1200 CPU. |

hello saggy, you even have the option of expanding it with distributed I/O's. Have a look at the recently discussed threadhere |

Hi, About S7-1500: You don't have how to "expand" the central rack, but you can use distributed IO (i.e. you can use PROFINET / PROFIBUS network, CPU interface (or CP/CM) and a "second" rack with IM for PROFINET/ PROFIBUS). The number of distributed IO, is related with the address area of the CPU (big) and the number of CM / CP used. About S7-1200: The number of IO-Devices is related with the CPU version. The FAQ http://support.automation.siemens.com/BR/view/en/38051505showes these number. For CPU FW 3.0 it is 32 PROFIBUS slaves and 16 IO devices |
