Hi, I need to install an input module into a rack with 11 slots already taken up. What must I do or have to make this possible and how? Also I have to install a CPU 343-IT to the same PLC.

Hi

To install CP343-IT you need a free slot on the rack. You can add a one profibus slave (but this depends what kind of CPU you had). For example one IM153-1 will be a good solution and you'll have a new free slots.

Or you can do some little bit modification on the S7 rack(what ever the S7 CPU),this is also possibel only if you have old LESS-CHANNEL module,like more thanone8 channel DI or DO module-Replace it with new 32 channel DI or DO module,If you have 2 such module then youcan use one 32-chnnel module get one slot of your rack free(let say you can insert your CP here),

Or lets say you have 2 no.of 4 channel AI or AO module, replace it with new one 8 channel AI or AO module ,here also you can save one more slot(lets say you can insert your new DI module)....but all depends on what is you present SM configuration(new/old/double stot/single slot) and your confidence on changing such configuration to new(because you need to re-arrange some module memory addresses.)

It may may one whole day job.One I did this,there were two rack of s7 modules and after changing to new configuation all come into in Rack only.(space saving and module upgradation)-its nice.
