TechnoDude Posts: 47 Rating: (1)	Always used 314-IFM with no memory card. Now using a 314c with memory card. What exactly does the "save ram to rom" selection do...and is it a necessary step? Also, without the memory card, is the 314c just like the 314-IFM? Thanks!!!!

Wizard Diamond Expert Joined: 4/24/2006 Last visit: 11/11/2024 Posts: 8768 Rating: (1170)	Hello, When you use a CPU314C with MMC the following faq will help you: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/17602317 With the CPU314IFM the option Save Ram to Rom is used to write to the internal Eprom. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/18652056 See chapter 19.1.5.4 If you have a CPU that has the option to use a MMC, You'll have to use it. One thing I picked up was that your Data Blocks for setpoints would be a great thing to write to the MMC at the end of your startup or commisioning. You can do this manually by the "Save RAM to ROM" command. This would enable your customer to remove the MMC and install it in another CPU and retain all their setpoints. Second thing I picked up iswe could set up PLC logic to do it once a week or write code to detect changes in setpoints.
