Can I activate OFF1 and MDI_Mode in every cycle of machine?

chicken Posts: 96 Rating: (1)	Dear all, I have a project with servo motor 1FT7 with internal holding brake. My application require fast cycle (motor run about 2s, stop 100ms, and run again....). I use MDI mode with telegram 110. My question is: Should I activate MDI_Mode ( SATZANW.15) and OFF1 signal (STW1.0) in the same time every cycle (SATZANW.15 = STW1.0 = 1: motor run, SATZANW.15 = STW1.0 = 0: motor stop ...) or just activate OFF1 signal in the first time and activate MDI_Mode in evey cycle? If I activate 2 signal at the same time, is there any problem with holding brake?

DenisMor Posts: 344 Rating: (50)	I would leave the OFF1 signal TRUE while the machine is operating. The holding brake is only needed when you turn the drive off (OFF1 = FALE). With the fast cycle like that there is no need to turn the drive OFF and ON constantly, even if you could do it fast enough. Leave the drive on while the machine cycles and only turn it off and enable the brake once the operation is complete and machine is idle.
