Modbus communication with a TP 177B

You need a RS 422-RS 232 converter (6AV6 671-8XE00-0AX0) and you must set the DIL-switches at the back of the panel. You can find all needed information at the TIA V11 manual at chapter 9.11 -> Modicon Modbus RTU http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/53385672 best regards Dear Sandman As per the Siemens Manual the Modbus communication has been tested only with RS232 port and certain Modicon PLCs Models only.It also says that it has neither been tested nor recommended with other ports / PLCs. I am trying the same with a TP 177B ( Configured with WInCC Flexible 2008 SP2 ) I do not get any errors during configuration / downloading. I have tried using RS485 as well as RS422 ( I have also changed DIP switches asshown on back of TP ).. However there is no Transmit/Receive happening from the TP177B ( Configured as Modbus Master ). TP is working normally when I check it with MPI / Profibus. It seems that Modbus Driver is not designed to work with RS485 / RS422 ports. If there is a driver update which supports RS485 / RS232 also, I would like to know. Thanks Navnag
