RF240R in TIA Portal v15

Dear reader,


For my graduation project I'm building a installation for light and  badge control etc.

I have a hardware configuration with the following modules:

ET 200SP:

CPU 1510-1 PN = 6ES7510-1DJ01-0AB0 
CM 4xIO-Link ST =  6ES7137-6BD00-0BA0
Reader RF240R IO-Link V1.1 = 6GT2821-4BC32 
Transponder MDS D100 =  6GT2600-0AD10

I've made this configuration in the TIA Selection Tool and exported it as AML-file, Imported this file in TIA Portal v15. 

Now, I can't find the RF240R in TIA Portal v15 catalog. I tried to search it in the catalog but I didn't find it...

Can I import it separately?

Hello,

no the reader didn't appear in the HW Catalog.

You must open the device Tool for the IO-Link Master and the in the PCT Tool you can configure the reader from the product catalog.

In TIA selection Tool I can configure it correctly, but once exported to TIA Portal, the reader is gone. Is this normal?

Yes that's normal. The reader doesn't need to be projected. It only appears in TIA selection tool. To configure the reader you need to install PCT (Port Configuration Tool). You can then open PCT from HW-Config of the CM.

 Thanks! I understand what you are saying, but can I also configure it without the S7-PCT?(see attachment)

If yes, which input/output type do I need for the reader? if no, I'll try to find the correct S7-PCT program, install it, and try to program with that.

 If your IO-Link master has the newest firmware (V2.2) you'll need to install PCT 3.5. But the update is for free so why hesitate to install the newest version?

Yes Totally true! 

I've tried to install it on my Workstation 11 with MS Windows ultimate 7 SP1 on it, but it doesn't install the S7-PCT 3.5 update 1.

Is this due to that it is a Workstation (Virtual Machine)?
