S210 + S7-1500 Homing Issue

Hello all,

I am using S210 servo drive, S7-1500 PLC and 1FK2103 type servo motor with Abs encoder.

I want to use and learn more about homing methods.

When I read the manuals, descriptions and forums; I realized that I can not use active and passive homing with abs encoder motor.

My Questions are:

1. What is the main differences between Active, Passive homing?
2. Why I can not use active homing methods with abs encoder motor?
3. Do you have any servo motor with incremental encoder suggestions?

Thank you for your reply.

As your mention, there is a table about the usage.

According to this table, I can use mode 2-3-5-8-10 with Absolute Encoder.

But when I try to use them, I got an error.

This error is 16#8011. It means "Passive and active homing ("Mode" = 2, 3, 5, 8, 10) are not possible for an absolute value encoder."

How can I use these methods motor with absolute encoder?

I have checked the FW versions and found it.

FW V3.0 supports and solves my problem.

Please check your PLC firmware & motion control versions.  You may be running a version that doesn't support those homing modes.  I had this problem.  In my case, I couldn't upgrade the CPU, so I had to write my own active homing function block.
