Sinamics V20 modbus control via IOT2050 by using S7-1500 as master

Dear All experts,

I am a beginner of using Modbus control on the Sinamics V20 series. So, I am now working on the s7-1500 system, but unfortunately our field devices support only Modbus RTU over RS485 technology.

Especially, Sinamics V20 drive which we need control remotely via Modbus. As our limitation as mentioned, We now using IOT2050 as a gateway to allow us communicate for both different industrial field bus as picture as attachment. All in all, I have several issues and questions regarding this work.

During my trial, with his integration, I have checked the communication for S7-1500 PLC then it worked properly. However, when I tried for Sinamics side I can read status word, actual speed, and also can write speed setpoint, control word. But, when I tried to send another command, it had been showing some error on Modbus node vid debug window.

Questions :

1. Is it possible to use IOT2050 work as field bus gateway like Anybus ?

2. How can I send another Modbus command to Sinamics V20 during its operation on the previous commands ?

Hi Kunetoh,

i can't say anything about IOT2050, I only know the CM PtP but if you can already read and write values then it should work. However I guess you have a problem with the format of your Modbus request if you receive an Modbus error. What exactly are you trying to do and which error do you receive?

Also take a look into V20 manual to see all Modbus registers and supported function codes.
