S7_hardware

In our project we using S7_hardware = 'im' in SCL. But I don't understand what is 'im'.

With the reference of "Programming Instructions, Creating Blocks for PCS 7 A5E00122559-01", I got the below information but I cannot find out the meaning Values.

Can anyone explain what is the meaning of S7_hardware values (’subnet’, ’rack’, ’sm’, ’im’, ’fm’) ?

The values are part of module drivers and they are the interaction between I/O modules and CFC program. When you check the: "Generate module drivers" option, CFC system charts are generated which are indicated by a "@" in front of the CFC name.

There is a very detailed example part of PCS7 System course manual.

 Subnet = Network, it can be MPI, Profibus or Profinet for example

Rack = PLC rack

SM = Signal module (I/O like input, output, analog...)

FM = Function Module (Counter module or positioning module for example)

IM = Interface Module

Let me brief what I understood if a device is connected behind Profibus/Profinet network then I can consider that one as a 'im', right?

And can you provide the manual reference ?
