My problem is as follows: I have a laptop running ProTool/Pro RT on it. It is communicating with the cpu 313C. The connection between the laptop and the plc is achieved with an mpi adapter(from vipa). I prepared everything with the protool configuration software and I started to test it. Everything was normal at the beginning but after 5-6 hours, communication between the plc and the laptop was broken. I saw that the mpi adapter was not working anymore. I think the problem is because I use mpi adapter! Should I use cp5512 instead of an mpi adapter? What type of connection should I use between protool rt and the plc? It also must be considered that the protool/pro rt is intended to work 7 days 24 hours. Any suggestion or help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PC (Tower) => Then use a CP5611 -> http://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/industrial-communication/en/profibus/system-connections-pg-pc/cp5611/Pages/cp5611a2.aspx Laptop (Notebook) => then use a CP5512 -> http://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/industrial-communication/en/profibus/system-connections-pg-pc/cp5512/Pages/cp5512.aspx I think this will be the best. regards,

I am not the big fan of Vipa also :) I have another Siemens mpi adapter, of course I can use it. But I am afraid it may be broken like the vipa one. What I have to know is that what type of connection should be used between the laptop running protool/pro rt (7 days 24 hours) and the plc(in this case cpu313c)? (as an information this cpu has only an mpi port)

But can anyone exactly say this, ''you cannot use any mpi adapter like 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0 to establish a permanent connection between PC/notebook running PtoTool/Pro RT and the plc, because the data flow speed is not sufficient for this...." I do not want to damage my other mpi adapter!
