Configuring a Thermocouple with s7-2226

I've have tested the thermocouple, and was able to get the analogue reading. so I've got the wirings right!! Now what confuses me, I need to program a PID? otherwise I would'nt b able to control the output, as the normal TEMP. CONTROLLERS do. to control overshoot. Regards,
